    Eating Places in Goa!

If you are in Goa & love seafood, you should visit Ritz Classic in Panaji.

    Here is the address:

    Ritz Classic
    1st floor,Vagle Vision builidng ,18 june road,Altinho
    Panaji (Panjim), Goa 403701
    0832 2227335

They have upped the rates & the quality has gone down a bit but still a place to have a good foodie experience of the marine kind

TIP: Try to be there a bit early so that you don't have to wait in queue to get seats

Goa - good food & meet in Goa

If you are in North Goa,I would strongly recommend:

    1. Souza Lobo at Calangute Beach. The place is legendary and the food is to die for.
    Do check out:http://www.souzalobo.com/

And I second Sanjeev on the Goa meet, it will be totally awesome

    regards,

    South Goa - Orlim

In south Goa, in Orlim there is a little place (maybe not so little any more) called Papa Joe's. This is close to the Leela and Mahindra resorts. Authentic home cook style Goan food.

Baga - Brittos & Anthony, Anjuna,

If you are at Baga beach, you can try out Brittos, got nice food and is one of the few shacks which is open throughout the year. There is one more place beside Brittos, its ST. Anthony where you can enjoy Karaoke as well(only in the evening) and rates are reasonably low than Brittos.
If want to try seafood than try Hanuman hotel at Anjuna beside anjuna market. Too good.

    Anjuna, Hanuman

Hey Sanjeev - I think Hanuman has closed down. Last time I went there in Mar 2012, the entire place was run-down. Or maybe they are renovating.

Regardless of the food at Hanuman, I loved the ambience in the evening when you have your friends for company, your choice of poison, the dim orange light filtering through the earthern lampshades hanging from the ceiling, trance music being played in the background & the company of the waves lashing on the cliffs just below Hanuman bar. Hhhmmm.......my mind just travelled to Anjuna & back in 10 secs flat

I've been there. Place is good, very good in fact, but is frightfully expensive. I would let the celebrity hunters and "I wanna be seen" crowd go there and head to a honest to goodness shack with brilliant food.

    Cheers,

    Goa, restaurants, shacks

Most of the Goa regulars pointed out that well known places like Souza Lobo, Brittos's etc have become expensive and are now overrated. When we went to goa a few years back we decided to try a new shack every time and we were never disapointed in terms of quality. So guys whenever you go there don't be afraid to experiment. Also, don't be put off if the shack looks rundown, you will be surprised when you have the food.

Goa - North & South esp. Colva

I was in Colva last Sunday and had visited Martin's corner. Found the place to be decent. Britto's has become too damm expensive. If you are in North Goa, there is another restaurant called Fisherman's Cove on Candolim main road. It's the best sea food I have had till date. Again, it is little expensive but, cheaper than Britto's. Even Lobo's on Calungate beach is pretty good.

Met a Palio owner in Colva near the beach. He has a 1.9 which has run 2.5 lakh km and still going strong. This guy's name is Carl and he has 5 Fiat's in his family. Have told him about MFW.com and PUG. Hope he joins in.

    Cheers
PS: Carl owns a good restaurant near Colva beach and also is shortly opening a Ducati showroom :-)

Hey Paresh - That is interesting piece of information. What is the name of the restaurant that Carl owns? Should look out for it next time that I am there.

Speaking of next time, I want to build on Sanjeev's idea & probe the interest levels to have a Goa chillout session for all those who are keen on the idea. Don't want to brand it as an all India meet or anything. Just relive the "Dil Chahta Hai" experience of driving down to Goa, soaking in the rains (not sun this time of the year) & chill out.

Let us keep this casual & not brand it in any way.

    What say guys?

Oops!! can't remember the name coz it was under renovation. But, it's just 0.5 km before the Colva beach. If, incase anyone is going to Colva, do let let me know and I can share Carl's contact details with them.

    Cheers

Goa is always a good idea... Cheap booze, food and fuel... add a dash of good company with common interests and its a recipe for the perfect road trip/vacation. Woo Hoo!!!

It will be a blast... provided its a smaller group of people.

On second thought... dont plan... just decide randomly and lets go
