    Exclamation Interruptions in site accessibility

    Hello folks,

As some of you must have experienced, we are witnessing some interruptions in accessing the portal.
Either the site page will not come up or it throws up a database error on random occassions during the day.

This is being treated with utmost urgency by the MFW backend support team & the concerned parties have been roped in to fix the problem.

You need not make any changes at your end. Chances are the site will come up on it's own after a retry

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

We will give a shout once this is fixed.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Regards,
    MFW Backend Support

At this point, we have leads which do not point to a DOS attack so we are not speculating on this.

But yes, DOS attacks cause similar impact.

    Dear All-

We are currently testing a hypothesis on the outages and a fix which we have applied seems to be working. However, we would wait till end of day tomorrow before confirming that the issue has been addressed.

Would request you all in the interim to use the forum extensively and report any issues you face.Your feedback is vital in addressing issues that crop up, so do keep them coming.

    regards,

    MFW backend support

    Hi Ram,

(I presume that the above is by Ram!)

Thanks for the heads up. Got back around an hour ago from the workshop where the Jeeps are getting ready and tried via Chrome and IE.

The site seems to work fine with Chrome but IE is having problems.

BTW - I think I figured out that Chrome has different settings. Will keep trying.

    Thanks & Cheers,

    Dear members,

We are seeing that there have been forum accessibility issues over the past few days.
Our constant communication with the forum hosting company is helping us to nail down the root cause of the site unavailability.

We are currently carrying out additional diagnosis using expert help to confirm our findings of the root cause.

The Marshal team wants to assure all the members that no cost and effort will be spared to fix this issue.

Kindly bear with us until then.

We want to make this forum one of the best in terms of user experience and accessibility and challenges like the one we are facing currently are an opportunity to tune our systems for betterment.

Thank you for your support and patience.

We will inform you once the issue has been rectified for your further feedback.

It seems the issue still persists. The site opened up after three attempts. Being an I.T guy here are some of my inputs,

    1. Chances of a DOS attack is very rare if the Its a LInux Box.
    2. If its a shared hosting the server may be averloaded if configured for a Name Based Virtual Hosting.
3.Improper database connection string or a Firewall Issue.

Thanks GTO for those inputs. It would help us identify the source of the problem and eliminate it.

    Cheers,
GTO - Thanks for your response and we are actually working on the same dimensions that you have shared here. All fingers point to the second probability but we are yet to confirm this with external experts who are looking at the diagnostic reports that we have shared with them.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this matter and we look forward to more such comments from your end to improve the forum's UI and accessibility.

    Re: Interruptions in site accessibility

Marshals, some issue still persists, it takes a while for the forum page to load & also for the new posts to be submitted (sometimes I click twice due to the delay, thinking the post is still not submitted).
Same issue faced while accessing forum on Tapatalk.

If we need to move to a better & bigger hosting space and need additional budget, please let us know, we will chip in.

    Re: Interruptions in site accessibility

    Dear Members,

The forum is facing accessibility issues since yesterday. Even if the forum is accessible, it is slow while loading pages or posting threads / comments / pictures.

We have communicated the issues with the hosting company and are awaiting a resolution. We assure you that the forum will be back to the kind of experience you expect from My Fiat World soon.

Kindly bear with us. We appreciate your patience and support in this regard.

    Re: Interruptions in site accessibility

    Dear Members,

MyFiatWorld.com is back! The forum maintenance activities are almost complete. We are happy to report that apart from improved speed, we now have the new 'Like' as well as 'Thanks' functionality installed and they will show up below the posts. So if its a post that helped in you in any way, you can 'Thank' the member in addition to liking the post

However, the functionality is in a testing phase at the moment and we need you to try it out and post your feedback in this regard. The old 'Like' button was part of a plug-in that could be responsible for malwares on the forum and unfortunately it had to be removed. So its a fresh start in terms of the 'Like' counts for all members. It was a hard call but we had to do this to ensure that there are no compromises on the security aspects of the forum.

Welcome back to this lovely community of FIATians! Hoping that the refreshed forum pleases everyone.

    Regards,
    MFW Marshal Team.
