Cool Made the Move with Google Nexus 4

Finally made the move...oh not with my Fiat but with my phone

Been a loyalist to my dear Nokia since the early days of my job life probably Year 2000. Don't believe me, look at my ownership flow:

It truly lived up to its tag line 'Connecting People' but also with heart. Its simplicity could not be compared with any other OS around until the smartphones started to evolve with iPhone and Android.

My existing phone, the business series E52 still works like a charm apart from handling apps like facebook or even whatsapp. But the Nokia symbian Series 60 weren't exactly designed to work extensively on apps.

My current company had a mobile handset scheme and hence decided why not jump into a touchscreen device. The restrictive policy of iPhone put me away hence the move to Android. And I had somehow decided, if i move to Android it would be a Google phone most probably. Booked the Nexus 4 through Flipkart. Did you know the Nexus 4 8gb and 16gb are fully sold out in US because of upcoming Nexus 5. Didn't wanted to miss this.

The specs of Nexus 4 blew me off with the price it was offered: Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, True HD IPS Plus capacitive touchscreen and many more The Samsung S3 still being outdated is expensive than Nexus 4!

Congratulation Rudrah on making the move!!

BTW, I couldn't see how much you paid for the Nexus 4. I see it listed as 24500 INR on Flipkart as on today.
I am thinking of jumping the sinking ship of Blackberry to Android. The Samsung S4 mini was on my mind for a few months now. Anyone here using S4 mini?

Thanks, Finney. I'm well versed with Android phones since the domain I work into is related to Mobile platforms (iOS, Android, BB) So not a big surprise for me. Its just the wide market Android has captured, the open nature of the community and the loads of helpful apps on the store made me fall for it.

Sid, I paid around 24k since there is a offer going around in Flipkart. Surprisingly everyday the prices are fluctuating in flipkart and other dealers. I was consistently following it. I just picked it up one day since the demand is increasing now that the production and supply is sold out in US.

Its a great phone, Sid. Go over the specs and you will realise how VFM it is for the price it offers: https://play.google.com/store/device...s_4_16gb&hl=en To add a another vanilla scoop over it, all Google phones will receive the latest updates Google Android releases by default. Other manufacturer are restricted per model and duration. If you need a good performance Android phone, this is it in this price, else you can look at Samsung S4 (a lookalike of iPhone). If you can wait, wait for the Nexus 5 which is rumored to release this October in US. It will be sold out too for sure. The nexus 4 has become a popular phone. The Nexus 5 will be like 5' screen and 2+ Ghz processor and other mouth watering features and be sure it will be at a very competitive price.

You can also give this a look, the Oppo Find 5 - http://en.oppo.com/products/find5/ My friend has it and tell you its a cool premium phone. You will love it at first sight!

Forgot to mention, it runs on Android OS Jelly Bean v4.3 and since this is a stock Google OS, it is free from bloatwares

I'll be using the E52 as a backup phone probably with a different SIM card. It has served me good till now and i trust it will in future till its lifecycle..

Even I had the same phobia moving to other OS than Nokia Symbian but since this OS is no more in production and plus it doesn't gives user a smoother flexible experience like Androids and iOS, it was time to move on. Any Android phones having lower spec will be a pain after periodic use because of hardware support. Plus you need to learn how to tweak your apps on Android so that it doesn't consume your battery. So to enjoy the full potential of Android, its recommended to go for a higher spec phone which are mostly >25k onwards.

Re: Made the Move with Google Nexus 4

Guys, i'm having difficulty to transfer my contacts from Nokia E52 to my Nexus phone.

Any idea how can I do it?

    To give a background:
All my contacts are stored in SD card of Nokia.
nexus doesn't have SD card slot so can't transfer directly.

Contacts in my Nokia doesn't have option to transfer thru Bluetooth.

Nexus is blinded with Google account so even if I've to manually add a contact, it asks me to sync to my gmail contacts.

I'm stuck how to work around with this. I'm right now without contacts on my nexus :(

    Help.........

Re: Made the Move with Google Nexus 4

Not sure how many contacts you have...

One way is to copy all the contacts from Nokia to your sim card, then put the sim card in Nexus and copy back the contacts to Nexus.
Sim card has a size limitation of around 300 contacts or so.

Connect your Nokia to your PC.
Install PC Suite and read all Nokia contacts in Suite.
Export contacts from PC Suite to Outlook.
Open outlook and export contacts in Google compatible format.
    Import this in gmail contacts.
Sync phone to your gmail account.
